Today begins the dreaded firsts, by that I mean, the first year of occasion's, event's and holiday's without him. When Travis was very ill at the end, Sydnee was hoping that her daddy would be here to celebrate her 12th birthday, but that didn't come to be, but we know he was whispering in her ear, "Happy Birthday, Sydnee."
This past weekend, Sydnee and her good friend, Lexie went to Black Island Farms, where DJ works. They had a great time playing on the slides, hanging out with DJ by the campfire, and going on a hayride and picking out their own pumpkin.
Last night, we had the traditional cake and ice cream/hurry let's open the presents get together. Sydnee finally received the coveted Nintendo DS and of course, a cute card with money from Grandma Carpio which always has a little prayer handwritten at the end.
Happy Birthday, Sweets. I know your 12th birthday wasn't the same, but I hope you have the best day possible. We love you!

Happy Birthday Syd! It's no consolation, but at least you know you had the gift of an angel with you this birthday, and for all future birthdays :) You are such a good girl.

Happy Belated Birthday Syd, 12 years old, I can't believe it.
Where did the years go? I wanted to tell you I went to Mass on the day of your birthday, and Father Leo had a homily for that day whic was the "Feast of the Guardian Angels", so I know your daddy was up there singing to you, and wishing you a very Happy Birthday.
